Whisperings of the North
A unwilling king, a half-king, sits on his throne, grumbling through a day of court. Even in the frigid, practical north, he grows weary of the pageantry. He longs for the days before. He silently mourns a loved one. As the day draws to a close, the nobles and the pesterers file out, finally leaving the good King Jon to his lonesome. Aside from his guards, of course. His ever-present guards. But- nearby, just outside the White Keep's walls, conspiracy swirls into place. A plan to remove the bastard king from his throne is made. And just slightly further, on the edge of the city, a messenger arrives, bearing news of grave importance. Whole villages, deep in the Arcanni mountains to the north, slaughtered. By horrible, undead creatures. Wights.

Re: Whisperings of the North
By order of the king, the Pychekan borders of the kingdom are closed. Those in the western territories found to have died under uncertain circumstances are to have their bodies burned. Those found practicing dark magicks are to be imprisoned and executed. Those found crossing the Pychekan border will be turned away.
-Posted in all outlying settlements and trading posts along the Pychekan border, accompanied by the king's seal. Crossing over into Jotun undetected is exceedingly difficult; it is almost entirely surrounded by mountains. To cross over, one has to go through one of a few select mountain passes.

Re: Whisperings of the North
A raven messenger would bring forth to King Jon a letter from the Dragonstone Isles, binded by the unbroken seal of Robert Arristone. Once unsealed, it would read the following;
"Robert Arristone the Second Of His Name, Warden of the Sea, Lord of the Dragon's Mouth and King of the Dragonstone Isles, sends forth his regards and his wish to seek an audience with His Grace Jon Callistan, Warden of the North, Lord of Drakkenfell and King of Jotun, to discuss matters pertaining to the binding of House Arristone and House Callistan, which His Grace may be already aware of. If such an arrangement could be made, the gratitude of His Grace King Robert would be most certainly expressed."

Re: Whisperings of the North
The raven returns to the Black Keep with a similar letter, carrying the unbroken seal of Northern King, Jon Callistan. It contained the following:
"Jon Callistan, First of His Name, Warden of the North, King of Jotun and Lord of Drakkenfel accepts this invitation and himself sends his regards to His Majesty, Robert Arristone, King of The Dragonstone Isles. However, his Grace is currently needed in the capital. His Majesty would gladly entertain King Robert's presence within the halls of the White Keep, should he choose to make the journey.
