Kal'Bavakorian Security Outpost

The Shield-Sergeant, and her small team of Republic Warriors, remained. They simply watched as the taller and more numerous human soldiers began to pile in front of the embassy. All was fine for the moment, and the Shield-Sergeant and her team were quite content with standing guard for the time being. Although, though, as the humans began to increase in numbers in front of the Republic security checkpoint, the Shield-Sergeant felt a cold feeling run down her spine; tingling painfully down the lining of her back.. A feeling she hadn't felt since the Great War on Nalla. With a harsh snarling noise, the Shield-Commander quickly yanked up her left forearm, presenting her Holo-Tool. Without pause, she activated the spherical keypad, and begin to type a few commands into the sequence. Not pausing, she mutters quickly to one of her companions in Kal, her tone rushed, and irritated,"Alert the frequency not to bring the Great Scribe to this affair.. The humans have pushed it."

As her fellow Shield-Warrior began to send this transmission in, the Hard-Light Barrier protecting the Kal'Bavakorian Habitat from the Embassy Lane suddenly snapped off; like a light shutting off in a room. Another group of Shield-Warriors, wearing their pristine white armor, mismatched with an assortment of gold armor plates, earrings, and hanging tribal beads, march out to present themselves to the humans. Upon the human activation of their weapons.. The Kals do the same. They activate stun swords and ignite their Plasma Shields; which protect them like medieval shields from a futuristic era.

The Shield-Sergeant, upon spotting this sudden arming of weapons, quickly slams her hand up to her helmet and quickly speaks into her radio..

"Of course, ambassador. Please, if you'd follow us." The small squad would then lead the Korrae ambassador towards a proper embassy place, as described by him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A detachment of 5 People soldiers had already been in the Kal facility, now observing the events unfolding in front of them. One of them seems to be typing on a wrist-pad of sorts, while the rest stands, weapons idly resting in their hands. They do not interfere.

Yet.

With a polite bow of his head, the Ambassador followed after the small squad, and upon arrival at the vacant embassy space, began preparations for his office. Within the next hour, a number of terminals, furniture objects and whatnot would be off-loaded from the Ambassador's Shuttle and brought to the embassy, and it would soon be furnished.

Council Station
United Systems Security Outpost

"So you are telling me this is devolving into a full-scale battle?"

No matter how hard his subordinates had tried, General Juan Minton was not convinced by their justifications. A few minutes ago, he had been suddenly woken up by the sound of the alarm, only to find that an entire company of the 18th Fast Response Battalion had been dispatched to the Kal'Bavakorian embassy, together with God knows how many military police and heavy troopers. His subordinates had, of course, presented him their reasoning: the Kals had unlawfully arrested a bunch of Mormons, and that violated a bunch of regulations and somehow gave the United Systems the authority to shoot its way in and get them.

On paper, it sounded perfect.

In practice, it was absolutely ridiculous.

Under normal circumstances, the General would have thrown the bunch of officers who came up with the idea in the brig, and recalled the troops. It was an insult that they had not even taken control, but had the guts to ask him for authorization to issue the live munition codes to the troops. The problem was that there was no backing up now; it would make the United Systems Military look weak.

So the General removed the key from around his neck, slid it into the slot onto the wall and rotated it. The move was followed by entering a code into the nearby keypad, and pulling the heavy composite armor plate away. From inside, he removed a single red folder; "LIVE MUNITIONS PROTOCOL" was written on it in bold white letters.

He flipped instantly to page twenty-three, signed underneath and then turned to the Colonel who stood by his side.

"Echo, bravo, seven six niner."

"All units. Use of live munitions is authorized. Lock code is echo bravo seven six niner. Release lethal weapon safeties, keep stun weapons as primary. Fire only if fired upon."

The subtle radio message triggered an instant ripple of movement throughout the company-strength formation. The soldiers entered a two letter three digit code into their wrist computers, and a small red light on their rifles turned to a deep green. The use of live munitions had been authorized. The company remained otherwise immobile, awaiting for further instructions.

In the meantime, anyone looking outside the windows would see the bright flash of a jump appearing. The 12th Supercarrier Battle Group had entered the system through the gate.

"Gate jump complete, Admiral. We're a few hundred clicks from the council station."

"Very well, stand down to condition three. Communications, message our control tower, tell them to prepare for the President's arrival."

"Aye aye, Admiral."

The yellow lights inside CIC faded off, and the low-pitched alarm that had been repeating for the past few minutes ceased. The Executive Officer was quick enough to pick up the phone from the command table, calmly speaking into it.

"All stations, secure from condition two. Set condition three throughout the ship. Weapons grid to passive, stand down battle stations."

In the meantime, the communications officer exchanged a few words with the control tower in the USC side of the station. His chat was interrupted by the beeping of the Emergency Action Message light on his console.

"Incoming emergency action message, recommend alert one!" he yelled out, and the chief of the boat quickly agreed.

"Alert one, alert one!"

The message was printed quickly enough, and the communications officer raced to get it to the Admiral. He, the Executive Officer and the President all stared into it in disbelief; this couldn't be happening, they thought. It had to be a prank.

All doubts were squashed when the computer remark was read: authentic.

The Admiral let out a deep sigh, his expression dropping. His Executive Officer was the first to do something about it, pointing to one of the CIC operators.

"Action stations!"

The red flashing around CIC resumed, and the deep sound of the general quarters klaxon kicked in.

"Action stations, action stations, set condition one throughout the ship. All hands report to action stations immediately. This is not a drill."

The three people around the command table remained silent, staring at each other. The President seemed to be still in a state of shock over whatever she had read in the action message, and the Admiral simply resorted to staring at the console.

"Sir, all stations report condition one. We are ready for combat." called out one of the officers, and the Executive Officer nodded.

"Prepare to launch alert fighters."

The spherical, bubbling OI teetered softly behind the Paladin's back, swaying to and fro in an uncomfortable; terrified manner. The being before it; the six foot tall monstrosity of a creature.. Was a Kal, but at the same time, was it really? The Paladin's were a sect of the LEVIATHAN 'Operation', the intelligence or leadership arm of the five hundred beings who were members (some would say 'survivors') of the group.

This one had a track record for being not only ruthless, but also very, very 'humorous'.

Number Seven was her name. It was weird, really. The Kals always gave luminous, dangerous names to their creations, or their children or friends. Always names, even to places, ships, fleets.. Never just numbers. It only furthered the idea on how uniquely 'alien' these beings were, even among fellow Kal'Bavakorians. They were taller, faster, stronger, and smarter; but also different in ideals, in thought and in action. Some were more Kal-like, yes, but the lack of social interaction with the outside word..

The torment. The pain. The murder they had been put through. It de-mortalized these beings. It made them angry, it made them dangerous. The perfect killing machines. During these sort of times, the Systems Republic generally disregarded personal morals in favor of the survival of the race. And right now, the humans were dearly interfering with the day to day lives of other a thousand Kal'Bavakorians within' 'Dessma Sector'; where many diplomats, citizens, civilians, and refugee's from the fire of the hell that was Republic Space were staying. If they wanted to disregard the laws of other races, fine.

They would do it in a organ-bag.

"Alert the Shield Warriors that Varia Troopers are on their way, followed by a detachment of my best soldiers. Hurry... And hurry, being of metal.."

She spoke, the Paladin spoke. Her voice was grainy, the squawks of her Kal'Bavakorian language itchy and uncomfortable to hear through the mouthpiece on her helmet. The suddenness of the voice made the OI jump in it's levitating stance, and without a word it tittered away; swerving through the dark tunnels within' the quiet, dark building. The Paladin made no other move. She instead continued to watch the many Holo-Screens before herself, silently watching the many integrated transmissions as they transmitted information regarding the entirety of the station's activities. She focused securely upon the feed coming from the Kal's hard-light security station..

She lifted her hand to her Holo-Tool; activating the device..

And spoke.

<::"This is 0-0-7. Humans have activated lethal weapon systems. Activate plasma batteries, and prepare to open fire on my signal."::>

The Shield Warriors standing before the Hard-Light Barrier immediately snapped their snow white helmets over in the direction of the human forces, hoping to find this information incorrect...

It wasn't.

Without pause, and with the narrowed, glowing eyes of each Kal'Bavakorian staring angrily outwards in the directions of the humans gathered, they raised their rifles and, each in turn, smacked a switch on the side of their Plasma Lancers. Instead of a soft green, the rifles quickly diverted into an angry reddish color as the plasma concoction within' the rifles changed; becoming a much more violent, energy-filled destructive power. The Shield Warriors exchanged their stun rays for their Plasma Lancers, Sniper Blasters, and an assortment of other melee and defensive equipment. Bubble shields were deployed, Hard-Light defenses were set up, and the small detachment of Shield-Warriors waited.

They did not raise their weapons quite yet, no, they were only prepared for combat at this point.

This idea was further supported when a large group of Varia Warriors suddenly passed through the Hard-Light Barrier, and took up positions beside their fellow xeno comrades. Their weapons were at the ready, the single red eyes of their helmets glaring angrily outwards at their possible foes. Whatever friendship the Kals had with these humans... It was not there at the time being.

Sadly, behind the Kal'Bavakorian defense line, multitudes of Kal'Bavakorians rushed to the Hard-Light Barrier to watch. Men, women, and children of all sorts, wearing tribal-like clothing covered in beads, rings, and bodily piercings watched silently. Some were fearful, depicted by the saddened looks upon their blueish, illuminated faces as they clutched spouses or children in a worried manner. Others watched with anger, the glowing eyes of the Kals staring silently at the human forces in the distance. It is clear that the humans may have stumbled upon the culture and ideals of these clearly socially-primitive (at least to humans) creatures.

The President, as she sits in shock upon the USS Carentan's CIC, might jump upon feeling a sudden intrusion inside of her jacket/coat etc. Her communications device would buzz and ring, demanding immediate attention from an unknown figure. Should she attempt to view this message, the em-blazed emblem of the Systems Republic would be quite visible, as well as the harshly typed name of the High Imperial Empress of the Systems Republic. In angrily written, jumpy English, the message reads...

<::"YOUR MEN STAND OUTSIDE MY WALLS, PREPARING BREACH. TELL THEM STAND DOWN NOW. WE ALERT YOUR EMBASSY WITH DETAILS REGARDING THE ARREST OF RELIGIOUS HUMANS, YET THEY REACT THIS WAY? MY PEOPLE ARE SCARED, AND I SHALL NOT HAVE THIS. TELL THEM STAND DOWN, OR BLOODSHED WILL RESULT."::>

Head Diplomat Yelipoli sits in his office with his diplomatic team, he angrily debates with one of his colleagues, gesturing wildly at some holographically displayed files on his desk. Suddenly, the airlock doors open and a young diplomat walks in, sealing the door behind him. He takes out a keycard and swipes it through the airlock controls, pressing a few buttons. A light above the door blinks red, and the magnetic seals on the airlocks activate.

The head diplomat looks up and speaks up angrily at the diplomat,
"What is the meaning of this, Kovrov? Why are you locking down my office?" The diplomat quickly whirled around, pulling off his gasmask,"System Republic officials arrested USC citizens, they're on the brink of breaking off diplomatic ties. Yelipoli stood from his chair, furrowing his brows heavily,"You're sure of this?" The man nods excitedly, wiping the sweat off his forehead. With this, Head Diplomat Yelipoli picks up a phone receiver off his desk, pressing a single button and raising it to his head. After a short pause, he speaks,"Yelipoli... Yes, we have a diplomatic situation here, USC and System Republics confrontation." He pauses and then nods,"Alright. Thank you. Good bye." He looks up at his diplomats, taking a hankerchief and rubbing his cheeks, he takes a few steps away from his desk. "Don't let anyone in unless they're one of us, the 1st Fleet is being dispatched to extract us. They'll be a while. Everyone sit tight, you can use my phone if you need to." The diplomats dropped what they were doing and all looked at each other with slight worry, talking lowly.

USS Carentan, SBG-12
Combat Information Center

"Admiral, the situation is devolving towards a full-scale war. We need to stand down and-"

The President was interrupted once more: the action message alert. The ship had received a new transmission over its quantum entanglement array, and the message had been identified and confirmed as a message from the Department of the Navy. As a petty officer rushed to snatch the printed copy and pass it to the Admiral, the officers gathered around gasped at its contents.

...EMERGENCY...ACTION...MESSAGE...

FROM: NATIONAL MILITARY COMMAND CENTER, BATTLESTATION SANCTUARY (BSN-11)
TO: USS CARENTAN (SCVN-88), SBG-12

SUBJECT: AUTHORISATION FOR NUCLEAR MISSILE RELEASE

REMARKS:
  1. KAL'BAVAKORIAN SECURITY FORCES HAVE UNLAWFULY DETAINED CITIZENS OF THE USC
  2. SIZEABLE KAL'BAVAKORIAN NAVAL FORCE PRESENT IN REGION
  3. SET CONDITION 1SQ
  4. ACHIEVE FULL AEROSPACE SUPERIORITY OF OG-009 SOLAR SYSTEM
  5. DEPLOY MARINE BATTALION INTO COUNCIL STATION, EXTRACT USC NATIONALS
  6. LIMIT KAL'BAVAKORIAN CASUALTIES TO A MINIMUM
  7. ZERO CASUALTIES FROM ALLIED NATIONS BAR KAL'BAVAKORIAN ACCEPTABLE
  8. RELEASE OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS AGAINST KAL'BAVAKORIAN NAVAL SHIPS HAS BEEN AUTHORISED.

"Admiral, don't do this. If we load nuclear weapons, then they will do the same, and soon enough we will be faced with a complete disaster!"

The Admiral had his doubts as well. This was the President of the United Systems ordering him to stand down, his Commander in Chief. Normally, the choice would be easy, but then again, he also had lawful orders from the NMCC. If the Kal'Bavakorians had indeed captured humans without a cause, then he had a duty to retrieve them. But did he have the right to perform said duty? His Executive Officer seemed more inclined to actually take action. While the Admiral and the President were busy discussing, the Commander pointed to one of the communications operators in CIC.

"You, get me a status on our attack squadrons. Have the deck crew load nuclear torpedoes on the bombers, we've got authorization to launch if needed."

The petty officer nodded, and the next person to be addressed was the Tactical Systems Officer. He had been the same officer so eager to blow the Liberty out of the sky six months ago, and was known for his heavily xenophobic views.

"TSO, set condition 1SQ throughout the ship, order nuclear ship-to-ship missiles into tubes two through four."

"Aye aye."

A delay followed, during which the TSO called the strategic weapons deck. "Strategic, TSO. This is a nuclear mission order, load ship-to-ship missiles into launch tubes two through four. This is no drill."

While the ship armed itself, the fighter squadrons were finally loaded into the tubes. A total of twelve squadrons, half fighters and half bombers. Micro-nuclear weapons had been loaded on the later, as part of the newly received orders.

"Sir, hangar deck reports clear to launch. Attack squadrons are waiting for orders."

"Keep them in the tubes for now, wait for the rest of the battlegroup to be ready."

+"Attention on Carentan. Nuclear missile launch prep underway. Set condition one SQ throughout the ship."+

The President, however, would have none of it; she picked up the phone, yelled an order into it and was soon connected to the communications array of the ship. She sent a voice message at the station, translated into rough Kal'Bavakorian.

"This is President McKinley of the United Systems Confederation. I am formally requesting the immediate release of all United Systems citizens from Kal'Bavakorian custody. We can not allow this situation to result in bloodshed. As far as the law is concerned, your arrest of our citizens is unlawful. Nevertheless, we are willing to not take this matter further if they are peacefully released."

USS Carentan, SBG-12
Starboard Hangar Deck 1b

"Go, go, go!"

As soon as the fighters had been placed into the tubes, it was time for the Marine strike teams to board their craft. A battalion-sized Marine element was in the process of entering the ten gunships in the middle of the hangar deck, while heavy trooper and special forces platoons did the same for the ones on the side. In total, twenty transports were being filled with troops, and two more carried portable mechs designed to operate indoors. But all of the marines carried something different to the standard-issue rifle: G-22 Anti-Materiel Rifles, twenty-round gauss rifles that fired .50 caliber fusion cartridges and operated on semi-auto. They had been designed explicitly for use against heavy infantry and vehicles, and with Kal'Bavakorians utilizing shields, they had found a new purpose. Disruptor munitions had replaced the standard power cells.

R.Z.S. Batruka, Republic of Zeleniy 1st Fleet.
Enroute from SOL to OOG:09

The decks of the super-carrier were flooded with commotion. Black and red uniformed sailors rushing to their general quarters, with a mass of lightly armed, augmented soldiers moving en masse to the hangar.

[OG;009] Kallan'Muya System - Page 3 1336328924760

In the fighter launch tube hangar, several groups of six fighter pilots in zero-G suits waltz to their personal craft, climbing up into their cockpits and doing diagnostic checks with the white-suited air-technician crews.

Captain Zygboyum stood in the briefing room with the experienced veteran, Major Dylakiv, the marine commander, and Commander Wacziski, the flight commander. She motions to a holographic projection of the council station, with USC and Kal' ships represented accordingly around it.
"Gentlemen, here is our playing field. As of two hours ago, 21:00 New Moscow time, diplomatic relations over the Systems Republic and the USC broke down into hostilities. Our delegates were competent enough to remain neutral in this matter, so we are not here to actively engage anyone."

"This is purely a secure and extract operation. Major, first platoon and second will breach this hangar, here. We believe the USC will try to push through these hangars, as they are much closer to their fleet, obviously. Firs platoon will be moving to secure the diplomats, with second platoon holding the hangar. Third platoon will be on stand-by. Second and third companies will most likely not be needed, they are to be on stand-by and to await further orders in the case of an enemy marine hull breach or if reinforcements are needed on the ship."
She denotes one of the hangar on the council station, opposite of the USC fleet. "The Kal defenders should be too tied up with USC forces, if they breach, on the other side of the ship. This gives your men the leeway to reach our diplomats here." The image zooms into the council ship and details a large blueprint, showing the waypoints to the Zeleniyan council. "You may alter this navigation course any way you please, but this is the fastest way. Be aware that as we are not on the 'security council', there are no friendly security forces on the station. Ideally your men will reach the office with no problem, the USC will ignore you, and the Kals will not see you as a threat. However, you are on weapons yellow, and are not to interfere in any engagement if your men pass one. If you are stopped by Kal or USC forces that persist to not let you pass, you are clear to fire, however. Once you've reached the office, double time it back to the hangars and exfil. Are we clear on the breaching procedure?" The old major nodded, gesturing towards the map,"This'll be a cakewalk for my men, but I'll keep them on a short leash if we run into any non-Zeleniyan combatants."

The Captain nods then turns to address the flight Commander. "Commander, flights 1 through 2 will guide the dropships to the hangar, then establish a holding pattern along our end of the station. All other flights are to remain on stand-by for immediate launch." The Commander simply states,"Aye, Captain." The Captain looks between both the men, then nods,"We'll be there in an hour. Dismissed." The two men salute, the Captain returning it, as they walk out with their second in command's to go brief their men.

By now, the entire Hakoni embassy has been barricaded and locked down. Not a peep could possibly be heard from within. Upon approaching or encroaching on the Hakoni territory, a large loudspeaker would bluntly state "WE ARE NEUTRAL".
