Originally called "Zehntausend Schrotkugel" by its discoverer Leopold Gruber in 2176 C.E. the system was worthy of its name. Translated from German, the system was called "Ten thousand lead shots" because of the thousands asteroids that floated around the brown dwarf star at the center of the system. That brown dwarf was to be named after Gruber's mother, only for him to find out that it had already been given a long and rather boring pre-exploration name. With the new asteroids being formed and destroyed every moment, Gruber left the system, unable to give his mother a planet of her own.

It was in 2437 that the system was rediscovered by Caliphate astrologers. When researching in the archives, Gruber's expedition and discovery were found. Because of the limitations of the Arabic alphabet, the systems name was bastardized to fit, thus leading to "Zyhuntazand Shkadujul."

In the fraction of a moment it would take to blink, one would have missed the arrival of the four starships. Build in the typical Caliphate design, the ships appear to drift lazily in the system, the small turrets of the ships move frantically to track any asteroid that comes too close for comfort. On the off chance that an asteroid does stray too close to a vessel, one of the guns opens up, turning the once dangerous rock into little more than space dust.

Joining the fray that is Zyhuntazand Shkadujul are seven dozen small probes, all launched from the largest of the ships. Basic in design, the probes buzz around the system on their own accord. One by one they cling to an asteroid, like lovers reunited after eons of separation.

Like the unfortunate victim of a lioness, the asteroids fought against the jaws that pulled them down. And despite their best efforts, no success could be had. With sixteen "teeth" that messured eight feet in length, each probe held an impressive command over the rocks they moved. Using the thrusters that were tucked in their rear, the probes slowly dragged (Or rather pushed) their prey towards the fleet. As they neared the belly of largest the vessel, each thruster cut out and reversed, bringing the asteroids to a gentle stop. The bay doors opened with flawless ease, the emptiness of space giving it a silent gracefulness that could never be imagined from the inside.

Doors spread open like the legs of a virgin bride on wedding night, the largest of the asteroids was propelled forward. With a lover's care, the rocket guided the rock so that it would pierce the hymen-like magnetic field. At first the field seemed resistant, pushing back against the ever growing pressure. But finally, with enough patience (and little coaxing), the asteroid reached the promise land. Within moments of entering, gravity teethers activated on both sides of the room, suspending the ship's newest guest in mid-air. Several men examine the rock before leaving, the doors sealing shut after them. A few moments after the men took their leave, the room was as silent as it could be.

It was a change in the gravitational pull that asteroid apart. With the mere entry of several codes, a single man had turned seventy tons of asteriod into seventy tons of bite-sized pebbles. The noise that followed was little different than the average vaccum used on Earth a mere 429 years before, except for the fact that it was amplified a good ninety times. As if drawn to the sound like the rats that followed the Pied Piper of Hamelin, the newly recreated pebbles went into a chute to be smelted or incerenated.

Everytime the process was repeated, it became a little easier. Day in and day out the process continued, though it was hard to say when the day began and ended.

Suddenly content with its hull, the largest of the ships began to move forward, if only at a snail’s pace. Slowing it began to gain speed, all the while being guarded on all flanks by its companion ships. Leaving the asteroid field, the engines on all five vessels shifted from a dull green to an even duller purple. Seconds passed before, without warning, the ships vanished from sight.

Besides for a few probes that clung hidden in the largest asteroids, Zyhuntazand Shkadujul appeared as if it had never been touched by man nor any other race. Life, or the lack of life for that matter, carried on as it had for millions of years.
