Orbit

Drekz receives both signals and taps two fingers to his brow and signals his men "Get in touch with the captain, clear this up, and send a message to these Slavic dogs, no interceptions, telepathy."

By now the dropships had returned, with London being the only remaining unit.

"What of our straglers?"

"We can't reach them, they've disarmed their suit, and the rest have deactivated, it'll be a few years before they come back."

"Damnit!"

A message is then sent so wide it is into even neighbouring universes
++Slavic fleet, Human fleet has told us to wait. You have told us to go. Avoiding confrontation. Sort it out.++
London

The Nakar chuckles, for over 3 minutes he guffaws at the human.

"You do realize, that soldier over there isn't even dead?"

"You think to bear certainty? Don't call yourself superior, you hide behind technology and a fake government and call yourself strong, you can't accept the fact that you alone are weak, you rely on other men to do your biding, you hide in metallic structures and you fear for your lives when you fight, it makes me laugh."

He holds two fingers to the side of his head, his "eyes" roll into the back of his head and after about 3 seconds of this he says "Your Eastern Allies have told our fleet to leave, and you wish for us to stay, you better make up your mind, after all, if your race hides behind structure and that fails, what is keeping you upright? Moreover, you told us to leave and we are going, make your intentions clear if you want them to be followed you imbecile.

<:: He's not dead, you say? ::>

For good measure, the soldier fired another half a dozen rounds at the head of the fallen Nakar. In those three minutes, another three Nakar were shot similarly. In addition, another one was shot at the order of the Colonel, seemingly in retaliation for the Nakar's rude behaviour. The human commander appeared in no mood for a compromise, and instead patiently waited for either the Nakar to turn over the missing mass, presumably soldiers, or for the technical operator by his side to get a reading from the hunter-seeker drones.

<:: You will obey our commands. Our Eastern Allies have not yet been informed of the mass imbalance. Actually... Lieutenant, see to it that they find out. ::>

One of the troops nodded and tapped the side of his helmet, speaking into it with a muffled tone. The message was sent to the Zelenyan ships in orbit.

<:: We have several hundred kilograms of equipment or personnel missing. Please keep their ships secure while we search for them. ::>

The dead Nakar seem to burn out into the ground, their suit rapidly combusting, leaving only piles of ash to remain.

"You really think it makes a difference, you won't gain anything from killing us, looks like you're just going to have to be a bit nicer and let us go, unless your holding us prisoner, which could be considered an act of war? So why don't you save us the time, and the effort, and kill us or, let us go, as it seems blindingly obvious you are not ever going to want a diplomatic communication, so if you would please, let us cease communications with this loathsomely ignorant race."

London

The Commander turned around and walked towards the APCs, his stride quick and prideful. It took less than a second for the troops to get the cue: they opened fire. The tanks begun to unleash a barrage of heavy explosives at the unknown aliens while the infantry soldiers used their anti-materiel battle rifles to deadly effect, spraying .50 caliber projectiles everywhere. There was no mercy shown, no chance for further discussion. As the commander boarded the APC, he allowed the onslaught to continue, heading straight for the nearest army base.

The slaughter ended in seconds. Only dead bodies were left, and soon enough, the drones and personnel that evaded capture were destroyed by hunter-seeker drones.

USS Carentan
Combat Information Center

The phone rang.

Admiral Jones had been expecting it. The situation was rapidly deteriorating, and he would be called to either step in and open fire, or to stand down and let the fleets go. The introduction of all these cruisers to the mix was not good.

He finally picked up the phone and put it against his ears. He nodded. He acknowledged the order. And then, as he set the device down, he offered his XO another quick nod.
"Commence fire."

A relentless barrage was unleashed upon the alien fleets, both by the USC fleet and the ground-based defenses of Earth.

The first of them was the nuclear barrage. Twelve nuclear warheads were unleashed from Earth's missile silos, and the USS Carentan launched three more. The warheads aimed straight for the gut: each of the alien battleships, cruiser and frigates would find their weapon controls destroyed by six of the warheads, while six others headed for the repair systems. The remaining three hit the hangars of the battleships, effectively rendering the first fleet completely harmless.

Earth's Cataclysm artillery, in the meantime, aimed for one of the alien battleships. In a single burst, the massive artillery cannon would instantly destroy the ship it was aimed at thanks in no small part to its nuclear-tipped shells. The USS Orion followed suit. Its artillery cannon was fired for the other battleship, hitting it with extreme prejudice. Three of the cruisers would also find themselves coming under heavy flak barrage, thus rendering their shields and point defenses useless.

The true onslaught, however, came from the fighters.

With the USC and RoZ fleets launching fourty squadrons each, and Earth's ground-based airbases launching another thirty, the number of squadrons came up to a hundred and ten. The squadrons split into small groups and ran a devastating bombing run on the undefended cruisers, crippling their engines and weapons. Then, Earth's Patriot and Defender batteries commenced fire. With the cruisers free-floating in space, targeting became a non-issue. With the combined firepower of the batteries and the two human battle groups, there was little more than debris left when the firing ended. The alien fleet had been wiped out.

[007 - G] Sol - Page 2 Empty Re: [007 - G] Sol

Post by Blitz Thu Jan 31, 2013 12:54 pm

Suddenly an urgent radio message was sent to all the fighter pilots,
"Break, break, break. Break, break, break,--this is Batruka-6'Actual to all squadrons, all squadrons: Engage enemy fleets immediately. Callsigns Reaper-6, Vodnik-6, engage primary Nakar battle group ships. Charkov-6, Polak-6, move to engage reinforcing tangos. Priority weapons and engines. Batruka-6'Actual out."

The squadrons equally attack both the Nakar and the unknown enemy ships, closing in at around 1 KM from the ships, launching their laser guided bombs or missiles, and breaking off to do another gun-run on another ship. From the Zeleniyan ships, the massive Vympel Z-55 missiles launch from their pods, streaking through the long distances to hit the main Nakar battleship.

From Earth, the old ICBM facility in the Urals was alight with activity. Rhg'Zezian men in white coats rushed out of the launch tube as a high pitched alarm screeched, and the lights in the facility shut off and were replaced by a dim red hue. For a moment, there was silence. The snow fell peacefully on the urals, but the peaceful moment was interrupted by a loud rumbling... A red tipped, black column emerged from the mountains. It slowly rose up into the air, and the higher it went, the faster it accelerated. The anti-ship nuke, designated ZR-2UTTH Topol-2318, rose into the air. It sailed towards the Nakar fleet, intent on striking the battleship.

All the while, the massive Minsk-based SPG-2335 gauss cannon shot out two rounds in the entirety of the engagement, aiming to cripple the Nakar fleet even further.

After the engagement, the fighters circle around the fleet, looking for any survivers or escape pods. The lead pilot of Flight Vodnik pressed on his radio receiver button,
"Uhhhh--Command this is Vodnik-6, can confirm all enemy ships are destroyed or nonoperational. I got no eyes on any good contacts, over." A brief pause as the pilot looked out his window, flying alongside a U.S.C. fighter squadron. He turns his head, his expressionless helmet staring one of the pilots down, he then raises his gloved hand to give a thumbs up, wags his wings from side to side, and pulls off with his squadron. His radio message is replied to,"Vodnik-6, Batruka-6'5, copy your last. All squadrons, All squadrons, return to base. The Captain sends her regards, Batruka-6'5 out."

USS Carentan
Combat Information Center

"Combat. Acknowledged."

The Tactical Systems Officer set the phone down onto his console. An overwhelming grin covered his face, spreading from ear to ear.

"Sensors confirm, all enemy targets have been destroyed. It's over sir."

Admiral Jones was finally free to relax. There was no chair anywhere near him right now, but leaning on the tactical situation table was well enough for him. Behind him, the CIC exploded in cheers. It was over. They had won against overwhelming enemy forces without even being fired upon, thanks in no small part to Earth's own defensive network. He would have to buy the folks down at EARTHCOM a drink eventually: he owed them. It didn't take long for him to be forced back into reality as the sensor screen flashed blue, displaying a new signature. The TSO picked up the phone again and listened, and he held it in place before answering the Admiral's unspoken question.

"It's Marine One. They are requesting permission to dock."

The President of the United Systems. Now that was new. It was almost as if the day would never end, but he shrugged off the complaint. If the President wasn't his personal friend and mentor from his time aboard the Saratoga, he might have minded, but he would be glad to have her aboard.

"Clear a deck for Marine One, and bring our birds home. Get a CAP going."

Carentan Cobra 108
Callsign 'Stinger'

+"Stinger, Carentan. All threats neutralized, return to the barn. Establish a combat air patrol, we've got papa-oscar-tango-uniform-sierra coming aboard. The Admiral has excused all pilots from honour detail..."+

+"...oh, and you can bring the birds aboard with standard computer approach. No more combat landings for today."+

Stinger's head would have slammed against the seat in relief if it wasn't already resting on it. His body visibly relaxed, and he moved to toggle his fighter's master arm offline. It was over. His third combat deployment in a day, and he was still breathing. Mostly. While he himself had suffered no harm, his fighter had a few nasty scratches from Alarei laser weapons. Nothing that a few hours in maintenance couldn't fix. The mention of a standard computer approach almost made him yell like a happy schoolgirl. No more bumping violently against the deck, just put the computer on auto and enjoy the ride.

He was about to break off when he noticed the flight leader of Vodnik give him a thumbs-up from within his fighter. He too was wearing an opaque visor, but he returned the thumbs-up and waggled his wings in response. The USC fighter squadron made a controlled one-eighty degree turn and kicked in its afterburners and inertial dampeners to cancel out its velocity, followed by accelerating towards its mother ship.

A ping was sent to the flagship of the Zelenyan battlegroup, followed by a hail. Someone aboard the USC supercarrier wanted to talk.

Earth
Low Orbit

After a good while of radio silence, Captain Crowley gave the order to announce the Garrison's Presence in the system, leaning forth towards the microphone and speaking clearly, once given the all-clear by one of the Junior Officers.

"++United Systems Command, this is Captain Crowley of the UNC Nixos, and current Commanding Officer of this Unit. We are here under orders from Councillor-General Vahz to aid in the protection of Earth and to patrol the surrounding sector. Union Command has just informed us of several failed attempts by Alarei Capital Ships to launch nuclear warheads at Union Territories, and by the fact that Earth was nearly assaulted once again indicates this is not focussed towards a single faction. Requesting permission to interface with ground-based communication centers for purpose of co-operation, over++"

The ping was returned by the flagship, a female voice blankly stating,"1st Fleet, R.Z.S. Batruka. Captain Zygboyum speaking. What do you require?"

The guard escorted Vinkov through the long corridor containing many cells, even more cells several stories above them. Instead of cheering or booing or calling out Vinkov, all the prisoners remained silent. The armed guards paced in front of the cells with a menacing stance. Vinkov was escorted to a small cubicle and forcibly sat into a chair in front of a desk. The guard kept one hand on his shoulder, the other holding a stun baton. The man behind the desk read over Vinkov's file on a PDA, setting it down on his desk. He smirks, glancing up at Vinkov,"We're unfortunately not suited for someone of your notoriety, Mr. Vinkov." He took out an electronic pen and signed the form on the PDA, as Vinkov looked at the augmented quarter master,"No need to be humble." The quarter master shrugged,"We'll certainly miss you here, Vinkov. But I'm sure you'll enjoy Mirovka."

The thought crossed Vinkov's mind. Mirovka detainment center. The largest orbiting jail-station in the Zeleniyan's control. If he was sent there he'd never make it out. The quarter master waved the guard off, who picked Vinkov off of his feet and shoved him out the door, where two other guards were waiting. They took him up an elevator. Everyone was silent, the three guards already had masks on. They exited the elevator, took a mask from a passing security guard and secured it around Vinkov's face. One of the guards walked in front of him, the other two staying by his side. They approached a door with a window slit on it, natural light coming through. A loud hum was heard from outside.

The door opened and the cold winter air rushed in, as the two guards shoved him forward to the dropship. The guard in front of him waved his arm in a circle in the air, the pilot nodding and flicking some switches above him. The first two entered, and as the third one stepped on, the dropship began to take off. Vinkov looked at this, and saw his chance. He swiftly kicked his foot out, striking the guard in the chest. His eyes widened as he fell out, a 15 foot drop. As he waves his arms frantically, falling off, Vinkov looks to his right and shoves the rifle away as it is being pointed to him. The guard tightens his finger and fires off into the guard sitting across from them, who collapses into his seat as he attempts to pull out his pistol. Vinkov then struggles with the man to remove the gun, but the augmented soldier shoves him out of the seat, he falls next to the opened door. The pilot seems oblivious of this as he flies on. The augmented guard moves to tackle Vinkov, but he brings up his foot and uses the guards momentum to throw him off the ship as he grips his lapels and forces him out the door.

Vinkov pants heavily, as the side doors automatically begin to close as they ascend. He raises his head and stumbles out onto the seats again. Rising, he notices a rifle mounted on the side of the hull, and stands up, taking it. He holds it awkwardly in his bound hands, but moves up to the door to the cockpit. He taps the barrel of the gun onto the door. After a few moments the door opens, the pilot taken aback, holding his hands up. Vinkov nods to the parachutes on the door, backing up. The pilot keeps his hands up, moving to the door. He grabs a parachute, pressing a button to the door. He looks down, holding the door frame. As he looks back, Vinkov kicks him into the doorway. He curses loudly and falls through. Vinkov tosses the gun aside and presses the door close button, moving into the pilot's cockpit..

USS Carentan
Combat Information Center

"All stations, secure from condition one. Set condition two throughout the ship. Division officers, submit casualty and damage reports to Combat. Honor detail, report to Port Hangar Deck Four. Honor detail, report to Port Hangar Deck Four."

The Admiral smiled as the executive officer put the phone down to the console's appropriate slot at last. The casualty and damage reports were still coming in, but it looked like the ship had suffered no damage from this last battle. It was difficult to believe, but it looked like the investment in warships was finally paying off. The United Systems had spent centuries designing new carrier and combat craft, and had over two hundred years to improve on the designs for the formidable capital ships.

The communications officer interrupted his train of thought with the bark of a statement.
"Sir, Zelenyian flagship on line one."

The Admiral picked up the headset from the tactical table and fitted it comfortably around his head, pressing a small button to extend the microphone.

+"Captain Zygboyum, this is Admiral Jones aboard the USS Carentan, 12th Supercarrier Battle Group. I would like to offer you and your crew my most sincere thanks for your assistance in the situation. We could not have done this without you."+

United Systems Earth Command
Deep Underground

"Earthcom. Acknowledged, Juno. Thank you."

The combat information center inside the EARTHCOM compound was much like that found aboard Hastings-class supercarriers, only sized up half a dozen times to coordinate the defensive operations of half the planet. Hundreds of operators manned the consoles, all placed in an ascending ring pattern around a central command post that provided real-time information to the commanding officers. The Tactical Officer was luckily posted right next to the command post, so he did not have to run across the massive chamber to deliver the confirmation to the assembled group of flag officers.

"All orbital forces confirm, enemy ships have been destroyed."

In contrast to the celebrations aboard the Carentan, the CIC remained unfazed by the news. It was too large to allow the officers to hear of the new development at once, and by the time the information reached the edges of the chamber, it hardly even mattered; another situation was presented to be resolved. The staff of EARTHCOM could never get any time to rejoice; their task was too important to let them drop their guard for a single minute.

General Barrymore was a man that had not aged well. At 56, his hair was rapidly graying, and it had taken a lot of care to prevent a bald spot from making an unwanted appearance. His posture was exactly what one would expect from a four-star Army general: professional, cold, even a little intimidating, if any of the NCOs had any say in the description. But despite that, he was a man that had achieved the unquestionable respect of his subordinates. Nobody even questioned his order to raise the Nixos.

Soon enough, the UNC Nixos would receive a communication from the surface, in the form of a voice message sent by a firm, cold voice.

+"Nixos, this is General Barrymore, United Systems Earth Command. We are transmitting the relative encryption keys for our interfacing systems through laser beam message, please stand by."+

The Nixos would receive a traffic flash from one of the ground-based uplink towers, a rapidly blinking light that served as a narrow-area communications message. With a few seconds' worth of decoding, the Nixos would receive its unique downlink code to interface with the command network.

Space bends, fluxtuates, and spins out a small, but heavily modified, stealth dropship.

For 3 minutes, it would coast toward Earth, then, finally, earth would be hailed.

"Is there, ugh, is there anywhere in here to land?"

There is a audiable tussle, and then a darker, voice of african origin.

The ship descends into earth, passing over a snow covered waste land. They approach the city of Minsk, a large city with a dominating political district. The ship is forced to land on the outskirts however, at a large Customs and Entry office. Once they land, they are lead by arrow on the concrete from the landing bays to the inside.

Inside there is a large queue of Zeleniyan citizens in casual and formal attire, wearing civilian gasmasks. They look up and stare at the Kotungans, probably never having seen a human or a black one at that.

If the Kotungans were to wait in line for a few minutes, they would be greeted by an uninterested and bored female with her short hair tied tightly behind her head. She speaks in poor English,
"What currency you convert today, sir?"

Some guards in white and blue uniform, wearing the logo of the travel agency, walk up from behind the desk show up and start taking the gold and diamonds, taking them to a back room. They don't bother taking the barrel of oil. The woman goes with them. About thirty minutes later, she returns with five briefcases, clicking each one open. They are all 500 red and yellow ruble notes with the image of the Czar's face smiling, looking off into the distance. She says distastefully,"31472000 rubles, rounded down. Please proceed to Customs to receive legal entry into Minsk." She points down the hall to a pair of armed guards standing by a door.

Before they can get back into the civilian hangar, two security guards step up to the door, they both have pistols on their hips and dark brimmed hats. One of the guards steps up and raises his hand in a motion to stop them, then points to the door marked "Таможня/Customs", his gasmask muffling some of his words,"Nyet, patroniye! They are lead into a small cramped hall, with guards standing at each doorway. They are forced into a small room with a table and three chairs. A man with a clear rebreather and aviators sits across from them, wearing a suit and tie. They are 'suggested' to sit down by the two thick guards. The man wearing the suit slaps scans over a file on his PDA, then sets it down. He meshes his fingers together and snorts,"Welcome to Minsk... You've been marked for security questioning. The man takes both passports, with an unamused look on his face. He immediately drops the U.K. passport, muttering to himself in Slavnok. He then opens to the front page of the Kotungan one. His eyes scan over the first few lines, then glances up to Obi,"You are Obi Sanjaro?" Which would be followed up by,"Spell your name, please."
